    Surakshit Aawash Project

    Rural Health System Strengthening

    Project Overview:

The Surakshit Aawash Project aims to improve access to safe, affordable, and adequate housing for marginalized and disaster-affected households in Kanchanpur and Jajarkot districts. Through the construction of permanent homes and temporary shelters, strengthening of land and housing rights systems at the local government level, implementation of community-level disaster risk reduction (DRR) plans, and capacity-building for local officials on DRR and climate change adaptation (CCA), the project promotes resilience and secure living conditions. Additionally, it supports financial literacy programs for vulnerable households to improve shelter awareness and financial inclusion.

    Project Objectives:

The project is expected to enhance housing security and disaster resilience for over 200 vulnerable households by providing affordable homes, strengthening land rights, building local DRR capacities, and promoting financial literacy for safe shelter and inclusion.

    Key Project Outcomes:

    • 52 affordable and adequate houses built and owned by families.
    • Land and housing rights system strengthened in at least two local government (LG) levels.
    • Community-level disaster risk reduction plan implemented in two communities.
