Empowered Women Prosperous Nepal (EWPN) Strengthening Social Protection Child Friendly Local Governance and Disability
Project Overview:
This project focuses on strengthening social protection systems, promoting child-friendly governance, and enhancing inclusion of persons with disabilities in Far-Western Nepal. It supports the adoption and implementation of the Child-Friendly Local Governance (CFLG) strategy at federal and local levels, emphasizing child participation, gender equality, and disability inclusion. The initiative also works to enhance public finance for children, institutionalize a separate child budget code, and mainstream the agenda of women and children in local planning and budgeting processes. Additionally, it aims to expand social protection coverage for children, women, marginalized groups (LNOB), and persons with disabilities, while promoting girls’ empowerment through targeted interventions.
Project Objectives:
The project is contributing to systemic and sustainable change in the social protection landscape of Far-Western Nepal by strengthening inclusive governance and public financing for children.
Key Expected Results:
- Men and boys, families and communities demonstrate more gender-equitable behaviors and support for positive social and gender norms that promote GEWE and women and girls have increased agency and voice.
- Women, men, girls and boys, in all their diversity, access opportunities to exercise their equal economic, labor and social rights.
- Institutions deliver gender equality outcomes in all spheres, in line with international and national normative frameworks.
